Basic Upholstery Care Guide
How to care for your upholstered furniture
If possible, do not put furniture in direct sunlight as the powerful ultraviolet rays will cause
fabrics to fade over time. You can extend the life and comfort of your furniture by rotating
and reversing the cushions and pillows every one to two weeks. No matter the quality, foam
will begin to compress with regular use. Rotating the cushions (like rotating the tires on a
car) ensures a more even wear. Vacuuming your furniture every two to three weeks will
also extend its life. Be sure to blot any spills and remember: Do Not Rub the area! Rubbing
only serves to drive the spill deeper into the fabric. Working from the outside to the inside
of the spill will prevent spreading. Be sure to test any cleaning method on an inconspicuous
area to check for color bleeding. Do not attempt to wash or dry clean your own furniture. To
maximize the life of your furniture investment, have your furniture cleaned professionally
every two years or every year if used heavily.
Basic Tile and Group Care Guide
4 Tips for Maintaining Your Floors
• Use a vacuum designed for hard surfaces to remove soil. A vacuum is better than
sweeping because it will remove more soil and not scratch your floor.
• DO NOT USE too much detergent of any kind on your tile. Just as with carpet, you
can cause a residue problem that will attract soil. Use a neutral PH cleaner made for
tile. Mop your floor with plain water every third time you clean. Use a string mop if
possible.
• Use large walk off mats outside of every entrance. The more walk off mats you use
the more soil you will keep from grinding on your floor.
• Get your floor professionally cleaned and sealed every 3-5 years. This will make your
maintenance efforts much easier.
CAUTION!
Know what your floor needs? Never use an acid
cleaner, vinegar, or bleach on natural stone.
Never wax your stone or tile.
